Invisalign

Malocclusion is quite a common oral concern that people from all around the world experience. It often leaves a displeasing appearance on the individual’s smile and makes it difficult to brush and floss the teeth. Leaving malocclusion undiagnosed and untreated for an extended period could alter the facial shape and lead to bone deterioration in the jaws. This is why dentists recommend having malocclusion diagnosed as soon as possible.

Invisalign is a highly advanced orthodontic aligner. It is made from clear SmartTrack plastic, a dental-grade material, allowing it to stay under disguise when worn by the patient. It also gets rid of most types of teeth misalignment issues and is miles ahead of dental braces when it comes to technological advancement and oral safety.

Why should you choose Invisalign?

  • Invisalign offers one of the most accurate and advanced means of correcting misaligned teeth. The aligners are fabricated and designed by a technology that helps the dentists precisely map out the treatment procedure and simulate the positioning of the teeth during various treatment stages.
  • Since they are made from a dental-grade plastic material, they apply pressure on the teeth in a controlled manner. It prevents discomfort due to stress, such as in the case of dental braces.
  • The aligners are metal-free, which prevents oral injuries when the patient suffers trauma to the mouth or face. Also, they are devoid of sharp corners or brackets that can harm the soft tissues of the mouth.
  • The patient will not have to visit the dentist’s office frequently. A periodic visit once every two weeks would suffice, during which the dentist will give you a new set of aligners.
  • The most convenient factor about Invisalign is that it is easily removable. The aligners could be taken off whenever you have to eat food or brush your teeth.

How is the treatment carried out?

The treatment course for getting Invisalign would start with a thorough screening of the teeth to check for the extent of malocclusion. Also, the dentist will take other factors influencing the misalignment of teeth into consideration. We will use a hand-held scanner to scan the teeth to provide the required measurements for fabricating the aligners.

We will send the data to a laboratory, where dental-grade clear plastic will be used to fabricate the aligners. We will check for a perfect fit by placing them in your mouth. Each day, they will have to be worn for at least 22 hours throughout the treatment course. Once every two weeks, the dentist would replace your aligners with a new set, which would slightly change the contour, allowing you to progress with the treatment.

Care of the aligners

Once the dentist’s hands you a new aligner and you start to use it, it may feel a little uncomfortable against your teeth and gums. But this would wear off in a day or two, and you can use them comfortably for the remaining period. Every time you have a meal, make sure you rinse your mouth thoroughly before putting the aligners back on. Any food residues remaining on the teeth can adversely affect the treatment and lead to discoloration and cavities. After the treatment period is complete, using a retainer would keep the teeth in their new positions and prevent them from moving back to their previous positions.
